This Hilarious Video Says More About The Photoshop Debate Than Any Article Could

“Over the past few years, many have assailed magazines and advertisers for their over-reliance on Photoshop and digital retouching that alters their subjects almost beyond recognition. And we get it. We’re not into the idea of creating a false and unhealthy standard of beauty.

You know who else gets it? Filmmaker Jesse Rosten. As you can see for yourself above, her spoof commercial advertising the new product “Fotoshop by Adobé” is pitch perfect, saying a lot more about the issue than 5,000 words of pointed commentary could. Even the voice over is dead on. “Pro-pixel intensifying fauxtanical hydro-jargon mircobead extract”? Bingo! (Telegraph UK)”

Brilliant brilliant commentary on the cosmetics, marketing, and fashion print industries reliance on Photoshop.

Modesty is a quality trait.

Please retain it.

You know what’s sexy? Long dresses, cute tops, red lipstick, thick framed glasses, cardigans, flats, humility, the ability to leave words unspoken but still convey the emotions, big colorful eyes (of any color.)

You know what’s not sexy? Topless Tuesday, being “naturally flirty”, craving the attention of every boy who thinks you’re pretty, being proud of your open sexuality, flaunting anything of any kind.

You know what’s not sexy

Being a dumb-as-bricks puritan who judges others sexual discretion and claims to have all the answers for how women should behave

This is why Josh is awesome.

I’m all for body acceptance and fat acceptance and all of that, but my biggest annoyance with it is that people think that they can just parade themselves in skimpy clothing that shows of their rolls and be considered beautiful no matter where they are.

The whole point of accepting your body, regardless of what it looks like, is having the respect to display it in a way that is flattering. You’re disrespecting your body by showing it off in such a grotesque way. It’s one thing if you’re doing it to feel free and get a nice experience out of a nude photo or something, but little to no people want to see a two hundred and fifty pound girl in a bikini at the beach. People don’t want to see you sporting nothing but a thong, a pair of leggings, and a crop top if your cellulite is going to show through, if your stretch marks are going to be visible, and the leggings accentuate your stomach rolls.

There’s definitely people on tumblr that would get mad about this and disagree if they found this post, but honestly. You’re not doing yourselves any favors, ladies. Embrace your body, love the skin your in, and show off your curves, but in an appropriate, flattering way. Accentuate the right curves, hide the wrong ones. It’s not that difficult.

thank god someone finally understands.

blah blah blah. i’m sorry, but i’m going to wear whatever i feel comfortable with wearing. don’t wanna see it? don’t fucking look. that simple.

“The whole point of accepting your body, regardless of what it looks like, is having the respect to display it in a way that is flattering.”

Since-fucking-when? I don’t remember that being part of it.

The point of accepting your body is to feel comfortable with yourself and in wearing whatever the fuck you want. Body acceptance isn’t thinking “I accept the fact that I’m unattractive, I’m going to wear clothes that make me look tolerable to others”.

Fuck you.

What I see: “I’m all for body acceptance as long as you’re thin and I find you attractive.”

Overweight/curvy girls aren’t the only ones that get offended,

jasperswift:

delicatemotion:

Making “overweight” women feel better by putting down “underweight” women doesn’t make it right.

Stop creating sites for curvy girls so they can submit pictures and put down smaller girls, and stop making sites for thin girls so they can submit pictures and put down bigger girls, just fucking stop all of it.

Agreed. Why can’t people just support each other in a positive way without having to put down others? It just doesn’t make sense to me.
